Describe Your Desk:
My desk is usually my kitchen table or my patio table. I wrote the book in one of those two places.
What's the Story behind your latest book?
Sunflower State of Mind just came to me a little at a time. Once I gave Cassadee a name, she didn't shut up!
What is the greatest Joy of Writing for you?
The greatest joy is the ability to shut the rest of the world out and go to a place I have created and live there, if only for a short time. And the satisfaction that I created what I see in front of me. Most of the time I amaze myself.
What are you working on next?
I have one chapter of a sequel to Sunflower State of Mind that I hope will bring light to some issues and bring the reader some peace or laughter or both.
What is your writing process?
I don't know that I have a particular process. I write and figure it out as I go along.
Who are your favorite Authors?
I don't necessarily have a favorite. It depends on what I am reading at the time. Usually, someone funny works for me.
What do you read for pleasure?
I haven't read a book in over a year and I do miss that. The title usually catches my curiosity. I enjoy light mysteries or something I don't have to continue to think too hard about.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in southwest Kansas and as an adult I gained an appreciation for the grasslands and the community I call home. I love to talk about the area and what it has to offer. The unique people I grew up around also have an influence, especially those who worked hard and followed their dreams.
When did you first start writing?
I probably wrote some as a child and some in high school. I found my real passion while writing for a local newspaper almost twenty years ago.
Do you remember the first story you ever read and the impact it had on you?
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
There is a lot in the world to see and experience every day.
